The excitement of discovering a chance contrast space/situation and stopping to explore and discover what lies within it and why, seems to be a challenging moment to create and capture. I visualize this as niches/slices within our ordinary world (inside/outside) that one would suddenly chance upon and would make us stop and think about things like doing something crazy, following your heart, taking a break, a fun moment, a joyous moment, an ecstatic moment; all the instances that make you realize the fun of living.
This project was another from the series on exploring silent revolutions in spaces that we take for granted in our daily life.
The excitement of discovering a chance contrast space/situation and stopping to explore and discover what lies within it and why, seems to be a challenging moment to create and capture. I visualize this as niches/slices within our ordinary world (inside/outside) that one would suddenly chance upon and would make us stop and think about things like doing something crazy, following your heart, taking a break, a fun moment, a joyous moment, an ecstatic moment; all the instances that make you realize the fun of living.
Previously, my work has been directed towards creating interior spaces that create an opportunity for known and unknown people to discover each other’s presence within a given space and catalyze the emotion of happiness, surprise and human warmth.
Taking this further, or maybe seeing it from a new perspective/dimension, I would like to experiment with the concepts of ‘chance’, ‘contrast’ and ‘curiosity’.
The narrative here contains of a little character who is patiently(?) waiting for something it seems. He doesn't seem to be in a hurry and looks to pass time by amusing himself in various ways, always looking for something now and then.
His lookout is rewarded by birds circling and tearing through this dimension, the window frame in this case, and taking him with them when they leave back to the beyond.
The methodology, though it meandered and developed based on findings between experiments, looked something like this:
Phase I - Research
Studying and understanding various aspects of the keywords of the project, like space, interaction, embodiment, time.
Exploring references and how people have expressed what they are thinking.
Phase II – Connecting the dots
Mapping these thoughts to create a story, multiple stories maybe.
Re-questioning the area being explored and developing it.
Phase III – Explorations and experimentation
Exploring the answers to the questions from various angles, which implies, quick and varied experiments.
Experimentation with not just the subject but the material too.
Phase IV – I think I got it!
Having found an angle/perspective that best expresses the answer to the questions, it would be worked upon, developed, relooked at, redeveloped till satisfied.
There is the canvas on the easel and you got this God damn palette of colors. And what do you do, what’s that first move?! I love that dangerous place!!

The concept truly came to life as the animation was projected on a window where the world outside the room becomes a transient part of the ethereal narrative.
